Details:

I'll start with the simple stuff first. :) My nickname isn't much of a deviation from my real name, which is Michelle. I'm 20 years old, from Ayrshire in Scotland and a full time student studying Computers and Electronic Systems at the University of Strathclyde. I have a passion for both anime and manga, which I've been interested in for around 7 years. I've been drawing for much longer than that though - I've loved art for as long as I can remember. While I do some art in a style that is a little more realistic, most of my work lately has tended towards an anime/manga style. I tend to like fine, detailed work the best, and it's what I aim for in most of my own pieces.

As far as tastes in actual anime and manga go, I enjoy series from a relatively wide range of genres and styles - from more typically shounen action series such as Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist, to more shoujo Gravitation and Yami no Matsuei, to darker, more gritty series such as Hellsing and Berserk. If a series has an interesting story, then chances are I'll watch or read it. My favourites tend to shift a little over time, depending on what I'm watching. At the moment, my favourite TV series are Vision of Escaflowne, Fullmetal Alchemist and Naruto.

I'm also an avid reader, being a particular fan (perhaps unsurprisingly) of the Fantasy genre. Particularly, I enjoy George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. I'm waiting with baited breath for the next installment, which is thankfully out soon. :D I also own books by R.A. Salvatore, Robert Jordan, Anne Rice, Trudi Canavan, Mary Gentle and of course Tolkien. Currently, I'm actually reading the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel (and thoroughly enjoying them too!) and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

The last interest that I'm going to ramble on about here is gaming. Although I don't have the time to spend on it that I used to, I do enjoy playing computer games (and no - not "girly" ones like the Sims). RPGs are my favourite genre, although I do play some action and platformer games, along with the occasional strategy. My first exposure to RPGs was through the Final Fantasy series, back when 7 was relatively new. Then, I found Dungeons and Dragons through Bioware's Baldur's Gate series. I think that set me on the slippery slope. I played some D&D through online means for a few years, but this year I joined my university's RPG club. Now I've had the opportunity to play pen and paper games and try out other systems such as BESM, Pendragon and Exalted. It's a lot of fun! :D
